Important changes to air freight for medical equipment
First and foremost, all at JAG UFS wish that you are all safe. The Coronavirus has had an impact on the world that we have certainly not seen in modern times.
We wish to inform all our valued customers that the landscape is changing very much in China in relation to air freight. Rates are increasing on a day-to-day basis, and now, to add insult to injury, airlines are now implementing a COD basis for bookings for medical equipment.
So not only are rates looking to exceed $10.00 a kilo for airfreight from Shanghai and the rest of China is following suit, if the commodity is deemed as medical equipment, so for anything from facemasks to medical devices, the only way that space can be reserved is on receipt of a booking from the supplier and also cash on delivery of the shipment.
With the high costs and these new conditions, we are left with no choice but to ask customers booking airfreight for medical goods from China, that credit terms on these shipments will have to be removed temporarily and cash prior, or on delivery will be required.
We can assure all customers that as soon as the airlines relax these demands, we will immediately return to offering credit facilities to all of our customers.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected], and I would like to thank you for your kind understanding on this subject.
Please stay safe.
